ATTENDANCE

Regular attendance to class is vital to improvement! You cannot learn if you are absent. Please be on time, attired properly and hair fixed before class so that valuable class time is not wasted.

DISCIPLINE AND DRESS

Discipline and dress codes are as important as always. Please make sure that you read the class rules carefully. All students must have correct dress and hair for dance class or they will be asked to observe.

Ballet students must have a black leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. Solid colored leotards may be worn by advanced students, or for jazz and tap classes. Tap shoes are needed for tap, pointe shoes for pointe. Jazz shoes should be worn for jazz class. Leg warmers and a tight ballet sweater may be worn in winter. No shirt, shorts, or sweat suits allowed in class.

Supplies are available from the teacher during registration; orders will also be placed the month before the recital OR as available. (Note: Before purchasing ballet shoes at a non-dance wear store, check with the teacher to make sure shoes are the correct kind.)

HAIR

All long and medium hair should be pinned up off the neck to give a neater, more professional look AND to prevent possible eye injuries. Each dancer should wear a bun, or have a big barrette in her dance bag, along with her own brush.

VISITORS

Since it is distracting and confusing to children, parents are not allowed to stay and watch class, except by special arrangement with the teacher. However, we encourage you to support your child by attending open house class and performances.

RECITALS

The annual dance recital for all students will be toward the end of May. Costumes are ordered late December/early January and must be paid for before then.

There sill be a $25.00 per costume late fee after costume money due date.

Participation in the recital is not required, but since dance is a performing art, being in the recital is encouraged for all the dance students. All students who participate in the show must attend stage dress rehearsal. Other performances are by special invitation and/or auditions, according to ability and dependability. All dancers who perform must maintain their grades.
